SEOUL – Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has eyes set on gold as he reached the final of the Asian Athletics Championship in Seoul.
Nadeem, who was a member of Group A, made a throw of 86.34 meters in his first attempt to book place in the final of the event.
Another Pakistani athlete, Yasir Sultan, also reached the final of the championship with a throw of 76.07 meters.
Indian athlete Yash threw also made it to the final round with a throw of 76.67 meters in his first attempt.
The final of the javelin throw will take place tomorrow, May 31, with Pakistanis praying for the victory of the national players.
Last year, Arshad Nadeem scripted history by winning the country’s first-ever track and field medal at the Olympics as he secured gold in the men’s javelin final in Paris.
He dethroned defending champion Neeraj Chopra of India and broke the Olympic record at the Stade de France with a stunning throw of 92.97 meters.
Nadeem’s historic achievement also marked the first medal by Pakistan in eight Olympics events, with the last medal winning in 1992 as the men’s hockey team won bronze in Barcelona, Spain.
