The Sindh High Court on Saturday issued bailable arrest warrants of Federal Finance Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal in connection with a case of promotion of Inland Revenue Officer pending for the last seven years.

The SHC issued the arrest warrants bailable for Rs50,000 and directed the Station House Officer in Islamabad to arrest the federal finance secretary.

The court ordered the police to arrest the finance secretary and present him before the court in the next hearing.

The court said the finance secretary did not submit the reply despite a warning as he had been seeking an explanation since December 15.

The applicant named Misri Ludhani pleaded that he was inducted in the Federal Board of Revenue as grade-17 officer in 1982 and reached grade-20 in 2010 and have been waiting for the promotion in grade-21 since 2014.

He said he has not been promoted despite the Central Selection Board’s approval of his promotion.
