Apple Coming To Pakistan After Google Heres What We Know

Pakistan’s technology sector may welcome another tech giant, with Apple potentially considering physical presence in the country after Google’s first office.

US Consul General in Lahore Stetson Sanders expressed optimism that iPhone maker Apple could establish formal office in Pakistan in the future. Sanders said Google’s decision to set up a local presence has sparked growing interest among other major global technology companies in Pakistan’s rapidly expanding digital market.

The country’s rising technology adoption, growing digital economy and expanding IT sector are increasingly attracting international tech giants. Google’s move to establish a permanent physical presence is being viewed as a significant vote of confidence in Pakistan’s technology ecosystem.

The speculation surrounding Apple comes at a crucial time for Pakistan, which is seeking to position itself as an emerging regional hub for global technology companies and IT investment.

If Apple eventually establishes a formal office in Pakistan, the development could mark another major milestone for the country’s digital economy, potentially bringing increased foreign investment, employment opportunities, technology transfer and new business prospects.

The possibility comes just days after Google officially inaugurated its first physical corporate office in Pakistan on August 18, 2026. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a nine-member Google delegation led by Wilson L. White, the company’s Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy, to formalize Google’s permanent presence in the capital.

Google’s expansion comes as Pakistan pursues an ambitious goal of building a $30 billion-a-year IT export industry. During the inauguration ceremony, White highlighted Google’s decade-long economic contribution to Pakistan, saying the company’s activities had generated more than Rs3.9 trillion in economic activity and contributed to around 960,000 jobs.

The opening of Google’s dedicated office is being seen as more than just a corporate expansion. It could serve as an important signal to other multinational technology companies that Pakistan is becoming a market worth exploring, particularly because of its large population, growing digital adoption and pool of skilled technical talent.

Google unveiled a major education initiative alongside its expansion. University students across Pakistan will receive free one-year subscriptions to Google’s Gemini AI platform, giving them access to advanced artificial intelligence tools for coding, academic research and digital skills development.

The company’s activities in Pakistan are also moving beyond software and digital services. Google has expanded its engagement into hardware initiatives, including local Chromebook assembly, further strengthening its footprint in the country’s technology ecosystem.

The expansion could also create new opportunities for overseas Pakistani technology professionals, particularly those working in international business hubs such as Dubai. Stronger links between global professionals and Pakistan’s emerging technology sector could support mentorship, investment, technical expertise and the growth of local enterprises.

The government has meanwhile reaffirmed its focus on strengthening digital infrastructure and attracting international technology investment. Google’s physical presence is being positioned as a catalyst for wider economic modernization, digital transformation and youth employment.
