Anti-polio drive starts

More than six point six million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio vaccine in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. During the campaign, over two million children will be administered anti-polio drops in thirty districts of Balochistan.
In Muzaffarabad, more than one hundred and twenty thousand children will be anti-polio drops. In Gilgit Baltistan, over two hundred and thirty six thousand children will be administered anti polio vaccine drops.
Polio teams will also available at railway stations, bus stands and public places to ensure that every child gets the vaccine. A three-day anti-polio campaign to vaccinate the children under five years of age will also start in four districts of Punjab on Monday.
According to a spokesman of Punjab Health Department, the campaign will be held in the districts of Multan, Khanewal, Hafizabad and Rawalpindi.
In Larkana arrangements have been finalised for the four-day National Immunization Campaign of Polio, starting in Larkana on Monday, said District Health Officer (DHO) Larkana Dr. Abdul Rehman Baloch here on Sunday.
He said a total 3,06,850 children up to five years of age would be administered Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) in the district from May 15 to 18. The DHO said 812 mobile teams have been constituted to cover all the areas, including far-flung areas of the district.—NNI
