Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Thursday declared that extra allowance will be provided to Anesthetists serving in District Headquarters and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals across the province. Chairing a meeting at Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, the minister said that an allowance between Rs150,000 to Rs200,000 will shall be given to anesthetists in the province.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Capt (r) Usman Younis, Additional Secretary Development PSH Omar Farooq Alvi and other officials. The Health Minister reviewed the performance of Anesthetists and asked the department to meet the shortage. Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Captain (Retd) Usman Younis shared details of the current status of vacant and filled positions. Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said, “The summary for the hiring of another 691 positions in the department has been sent to Punjab Public Service Commission. These include 79 seats for anesthetists. The government is trying to ensure the presence of anesthetists at all facilities. The role of anesthetists in vital for surgeries at all district and Tehsil headquarters hospitals. The details of surgeries in all hospitals must also be consolidated. Different proposals for another extra allowance for anesthetists serving in far areas were also reviewed. To a great extent, the scarcity of anesthetists has been fillfull in Punjab.” Meanwhile, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid issued warning to MS Govt Teaching Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate Lahore Dr. Gulzar to improve management as the team of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department continued their surprise visits of hospital on directions from the Minister.
