LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 146 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in various areas of Lahore on Thursday.
LDA teams also demolished seven buildings for violating the bylaws.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 20 buildings in Gulberg, 30 in Johar Town, 61 in Shadman, Shah Jamal, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Shadbagh and on Canal Bank Road, and 35 in Subzazar Housing Scheme and on Wahdat Road during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
Meanwhile, LDA teams demolished seven buildings in Johar Town for violating the bylaws.
The sealed premises include Allied Bank Limited, United Bank Limited, Sabroso Wholesale Outlet, English Grammar School, Supreme Pharmacy, Shifa Medical Centre, salons, workshops, grocery stores, restaurants, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police and heavy machinery.
According to the LDA spokesperson, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters across Lahore.
