The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 104 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 18 buildings in Faisal Town and Gulberg, 13 in Township, six in Public Health Society, 10 in Jubilee Town, 20 in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Samanabad, 15 in Johar Town, and 22 in Azam Gardens and Allama Iqbal Town during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Allied Bank Limited, Unique Schools, Dar-e-Arqam School, American Lyceum, London Academic Plan School (LAPS), Jamil Science School & Academy, Hijazi Medical Centre, grocery stores, food outlets, workshops, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes in Lahore.
