RAWALPINDI – The security around Adiala Jail has been ramped up in anticipation of a meeting with PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday (today).
The commercial centers and educational institutions from Gorkhapur to Dahegal Checkpoint have been closed as part of the precautionary measures to ensure the safety and control.
A special two-shift security plan has been implemented around the jail, with more than 1,200 personnel, including officers from 20 police stations, 8 DSPs (Deputy Superintendents of Police) and 2 SPs (Superintendents of Police) assigned to the operation. Additionally, 48 female commandos, including 6 female inspectors, have been deployed to reinforce the security.
For crowd control and maintaining law and order, various specialized units, including the RMPC (Rapid Mobilization Police Force), Punjab Constabulary, Dolphin Squad, and Elite Force, have also been called into action. The police have been equipped with anti-riot gear to manage any potential disturbances.
The security operations are being closely monitored by SP Saddar, Anum Sher, who is overseeing the arrangements on the ground.
SSP Operations, Tariq Malik, has also arrived at Adiala Jail to assess the situation and ensure all measures are in place.
The authorities took no chances in ensuring a smooth and secure environment for the meeting as the heavy presence of law enforcement agencies are deployed to manage any eventuality.
The tight security measures are likely to continue throughout the day.
