In occupied Kashmir, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir has strongly condemned the arrest of the party Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) on him. The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar said that illegal arrests and other cheap tactics being used by India could not prevent the people of Kashmir from pursuing their struggle for freedom.
The statement said that party Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sahrai was being victimized for his role in the formation of Hurriyat Conference, leading Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir and the affil,iation of his son Junaid Sahrai, with Hizbul Mujahideen. Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai is languishing in Udhampur Jail in Jammu.
According to the medical report issued by his doctor and Srinagar hospital, the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat said, Ashraf Sehrai has been advised to avoid stress, long journeys and excessive sitting. Besides, he has also been asked to use the prescribed medicines on time and undergo timely check-up, the statement added.
The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat said, all these things are not possible in Udhampur jail but he needs to be kept at home or in Srinagar so that the stress is minimized and he can get a timely check-up from the doctor. The Tehreek-e-Hurriyat also expressed concern over the reports on the health of the prisoners and demanded the release of all the prisoners arrested under the black laws.—INP
