Corona kills 69 Pakistanis, infects 2,769 in one day

Pakistan has confirmed 69 deaths in a single day by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 252,982. The nationwide tally of fatalities jumped to 5,304 on Monday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center 2,769 persons have been tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours.
Till now 106,622 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 87,043 in Punjab, 30,747 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,192 in Balochistan, 14,108 in Islamabad, 1,671 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,599 in Azad Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has issued directions to take “strict action” against people found violating the government’s coronavirus SOPs, his newly appointed adviser on information Kamran Khan Bangash said.
Addressing a press conference, he said tens of thousands of businesses had been fined and thousands of industrial units were sealed for not following the health guidelines. The provincial government has collected more than Rs35.2 million in fines since June, according to Bangash.
Another 1,089 cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Sindh, taking the provincial tally to 106,622, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
The province also recorded 31 new deaths, with its overall death toll from the virus rising to 1,826.
Punjab has reported 487 new virus cases, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal, taking the provincial tally to 87,043. The province also reported seven more fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 2,013.
