RAWALPINDI – Computer Science examinations were postponed to accommodate Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s scheduled visit to Jhelum, triggering strong reaction from provincial chief executive and immediate removal of the deputy commissioner from office.
The incident raised serious questions over disruption of educational activities for official protocol arrangements, particularly after the chief minister made it clear that her district visits must not interfere with public life, educational institutions or business activities.
Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi had postponed the Computer Science papers of the Intermediate Second Annual Examinations 2026, originally scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, in Jhelum district. The decision followed formal request from Jhelum deputy commissioner, who cited extensive administrative and security preparations for Maryam Nawaz’s expected visit to Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan on the same day.
CM Maryam Nawaz orders Removal of DC
Punjab chief minister publicly condemned administrative actions that caused inconvenience to citizens despite her repeated instructions against such disruptions. In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Maryam Nawaz expressed frustration that officials had failed to follow her directions.

She stressed that district administrations had been categorically instructed to ensure that public activities remained unaffected during her official engagements. Describing the incident as a clear disregard of her orders, the chief minister announced the immediate removal of the deputy commissioner from his post.
CM’s Visit Led to Examination Postponement
The controversy began when the Jhelum district administration wrote to the chairman of BISE Rawalpindi, seeking a change in the examination timetable. The deputy commissioner informed the board that preparations for the chief minister’s November 10 visit would require the deployment of substantial administrative and security personnel across the district.

According to the letter, these arrangements could make it difficult to ensure the uninterrupted conduct of Computer Science examinations at local examination centres. The district administration therefore recommended shifting the papers to another date, arguing that the move would help avoid inconvenience to students while allowing security and protocol arrangements for the high-profile visit to proceed.
The recommendation was subsequently accepted by BISE Rawalpindi, resulting in the postponement of examinations for both morning and evening groups in Jhelum district.
New Exam Date
Following the administrative request, Controller of Examinations Mubashir Saeed issued an official notification confirming the revised timetable. BISE Rawalpindi spokesperson Arslan Cheema said the affected Computer Science papers would now be conducted on Monday, November 30, 2026, instead of November 10.
Both groups will follow their original examination shifts, with morning candidates appearing in the morning session and evening candidates taking their papers in the evening. Students will also report to the same examination centres assigned to them earlier.
Rawalpindi board has clarified that the revised schedule applies exclusively to Jhelum district. Candidates appearing at examination centres in other districts under BISE Rawalpindi will take their Computer Science papers on November 10 as originally planned.
