Ex Mna Noor Alam Khans Nephew Fahad Khan Murdered In Peshawar

PESHAWAR – A deadly shooting in Peshawar’s upscale Hayatabad neighbourhood took life of Fahad Khan, the nephew of former National Assembly member Noor Alam Khan, triggering fresh security concerns in one of the provincial capital’s most prominent residential districts.

The shocking unfolded in Phase 5 of Hayatabad, where unidentified armed assailants opened fire near a NADRA office, fatally wounding the government official. Former MNA Noor Alam Khan confirmed the tragic death of his nephew through a post on social media platform X.

According to Peshawar police spokesperson Alam Khan, the victim was identified as Fahad Khan, son of Sharoom Khan, who had been serving as an Assistant Director at NADRA. Initial police findings revealed that the shooting occurred behind the NADRA office in Hayatabad Phase 5, an area falling within the jurisdiction of Hayatabad Police Station.

After getting information about gunfire, police teams rushed to the location and began collecting evidence to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the attack. Investigators recovered eight spent bullet casings from a .30-bore pistol at the crime scene, providing a potential lead in identifying the weapon used in the killing.

Authorities subsequently transferred Fahad Khan’s body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination as part of the investigation. Police have yet to establish what prompted the attack or identify the individuals involved. Investigators are examining different possibilities to determine whether the victim was specifically targeted.

The location of the shooting has intensified concerns because Hayatabad Phase 5 is home to several important government institutions, healthcare facilities and residential properties occupied by senior officials.

NADRA office is situated near multiple banks, while major educational institutions, including Khyber Medical University and Khyber Girls Medical College, are also located in the surrounding area. Hayatabad has long been regarded as one of Peshawar’s relatively secure and prestigious neighbourhoods, attracting prominent political figures, members of the national and provincial assemblies, and senior civil servants.

Now, efforts are being made to seek official response from Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed and SSP Operations Farhan Khan regarding the circumstances of the killing and the progress of the investigation. However, both senior police officials remained unavailable for comment, while messages sent through WhatsApp also went unanswered.

Police have begun gathering forensic evidence and examining possible motives, no arrests or confirmed motive have been announced so far. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify the attackers and determine the circumstances behind the fatal shooting of Fahad Khan in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area.
