KOHAT, November 5,2026 : The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department (HED) has expressed concern over the participation and frequent invitation of male individuals to events organized by Government Frontier College for Women Peshawar, directing the college administration to avoid unnecessary male participation in its functions and ensure the responsible use of official social media platforms.
In an official letter dated November 3, 2026, the department raised concerns over the repeated invitations extended to male individuals to attend various college functions. It observed that such arrangements had reportedly caused resentment among parents, teachers and staff members, while also raising questions about the institution’s established traditions, decorum and institutional values.
” Being one of the Province’s premier educational institutions of historical significance, such arrangements have reportedly caused resentment among parents, teachers and staff who have reservations about mixed gatherings, thereby raising concerns regarding the College’s established traditions and institutional decorum “, the official letter stated.

The department’s directives come in the wake of a recent cultural event organized by the college which reportedly witnessed the participation of a large number of male attendees alongside female students and teaching staff. Videos of the event were subsequently shared on the college’s official Facebook page and reportedly circulated widely across other social media platforms and WhatsApp groups, attracting considerable public attention and criticism.
The latest development has also brought renewed attention to concerns surrounding the nature of activities organized at the institution and the use of its official platforms to publicize such events.
The department further observed that the college’s official social media accounts were increasingly being used for personal publicity and self-projection rather than focusing on the institution’s academic achievements, students’ accomplishments and legitimate co-curricular activities.
It further noted that certain social media posts had triggered public criticism, with several viewers questioning the nature of the activities and expressing concern that such events under the banner of culture promotion could promote obscenity and comprise the institution’s traditional values and decorum.
In its directives, the department instructed the college principal to refrain from inviting male individuals to college functions unless their participation was considered necessary for official purposes. Any such participation, where required, would be subject to prior approval from the Directorate of Higher Education.
The principal has also been directed to ensure that the college’s official social media platforms are used strictly for institutional purposes. All content must be properly scrutinized and authorized before publication to protect the dignity, decorum and reputation of the institution.
The department has emphasized the need to maintain the established traditions and institutional character of the women’s college while ensuring that its public communication platforms reflect its academic mission and educational objectives.
