Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has warned that any renewed US military aggression would widen the ongoing conflict across the Middle East, while dismissing hopes of a change in Washington’s policy towards Tehran.
In a written statement published on his official website on Wednesday, he said those expecting US policy to change following domestic political developments were “seriously mistaken”.
Khamenei also rejected the notion that concessions to Washington could persuade the United States to abandon its hostile stance towards Iran. He cautioned that any repeat of US attacks would significantly expand the scope of the war.
Meanwhile, Iran’s chief negotiator in talks with the United States, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, described the outcome of the US midterm elections as a rejection of war by American voters.
Reacting to the Democratic Party’s gains against Republicans, Ghalibaf wrote on X that Americans had voted “NO TO WAR”, adding that Tehran supported their message.
