Punjab Set to Launch Polio Drive to Vaccinate 9.3 Million Children

Punjab will launch a polio vaccination campaign in 13 districts from Monday, November 2, targeting more than 9.3 million children under five.

More than 77,000 frontline workers will administer polio drops during the campaign, which will run for seven days in Lahore and four days in the remaining 12 districts.

Lahore has a target of vaccinating over 2.285 million children, followed by Rahim Yar Khan with more than 1.142 million, Multan with over one million and Rawalpindi with 990,000.

Punjab EOC Coordinator Khalid Parvaiz urged parents to ensure that all children under five receive the vaccine, even if they have been vaccinated in previous campaigns. He said follow-up efforts would target children missed during household visits.

The drive is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio, with additional vaccination campaigns planned through June 2027 to strengthen immunity and prevent the virus from spreading.
