The Punjab government has imposed a 30-day ban on outdoor drone flights across the province, citing security concerns.
According to a Punjab Home Department spokesperson, the restriction has been enforced under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
However, limited use of small drones for event coverage inside halls and marquees will be allowed, with organisers responsible for ensuring their safe operation.
Intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the ban. The department has also established district-level Safe Drone Usage Committees to regulate drone activities.
Drone operations for agriculture, irrigation and research purposes will be permitted only after obtaining written approval from the relevant district committee.
The spokesperson said public safety, the maintenance of law and order, and the protection of property remain key priorities. District administrations and police have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the notification.
