PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have urged families to exercise caution when recording photographs and videos at wedding ceremonies, warning against potential misuse of such content on social media and by blackmailers.
In an advisory, the police asked people to ensure that photographs and videos of their sisters and daughters are not taken at wedding functions, cautioning that a moment of carelessness could lead to lasting regret.
The warning comes amid concerns over blackmailing involving deepfake images and videos, which can be used to threaten victims with the release of manipulated or private content.

Such threats can expose individuals to severe mental distress, particularly when suspects use the fear of public disclosure to pressure or intimidate their targets.
The police advisory highlights the importance of protecting personal images and videos from misuse, particularly as the wedding season approaches across much of the country with temperatures beginning to fall.
Wedding ceremonies often involve photography and video recording, while digital platforms allow content to be circulated widely. The advisory urges families to remain mindful of the risks associated with capturing and sharing personal images.
