Naqvi Urges Women To Avoid Sharing Photos Amid Rising Cybercrime

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged women to avoid sharing their photographs online amid rising cases of cyber harassment and blackmail.

Speaking to reporters during an open court at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore, he said the agency was receiving numerous complaints involving the online harassment of women and girls.

Naqvi also cautioned citizens against transferring money to strangers online, falling for fake social media accounts or trusting schemes promising to double their money.

He said the NCCIA had only 61 officers across Punjab and that he would raise the staffing issue with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The government also plans to launch a public awareness campaign on cybercrime prevention.

The minister added that hundreds of people had been arrested in operations against illegal call centres and urged the public to protect their passwords and other personal information.
