Araghchi Says Iran Open to Dialogue, Rejects US Pressure

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Iran was open to dialogue based on mutual respect and credible guarantees, while rejecting threats and coercion.

Speaking at an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers’ meeting in Baghdad on Sunday, he accused the United States of undermining diplomacy through aggression, economic pressure and violations of agreements.

Araghchi said Iran supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and Yemen, calling for an inclusive political process to resolve the conflict and warning that military escalation would not bring lasting peace.

He also held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional issues, including Palestine, the Yemen conflict and efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported.

Araghchi described Israeli occupation and expansionism as major sources of regional insecurity and accused Washington of repeatedly disrupting diplomatic efforts to end the war.
