The US military has prepared contingency plans that could involve using “mother of all bombs” if President Trump orders renewed military operations against Iran.
According to media reports, the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) could be used to target Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites.
The potential deployment would mark a significant escalation, although officials have questioned whether such strikes would achieve Washington’s strategic objectives.
Meanwhile, Trump acknowledged that US attacks may have gone too far in targeting Iran’s leadership, saying the campaign had destroyed several layers of Tehran’s leadership and defence infrastructure.
Speaking at a rally in Ohio, Trump said the US was struggling to identify Iranian officials to engage with, suggesting that the killing of senior leaders could complicate efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict.
