Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi has appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace and facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States amid rising tensions.
Speaking at the eighth Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) session in Islamabad on Wednesday, Al Busaidi and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting regional stability.
The two sides agreed to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, energy, logistics, port connectivity, food security, technology and tourism. They also pledged to strengthen institutional ties through joint working groups on trade and investment, agriculture, oil and gas, and labour and human resource development.
Both countries agreed to encourage investment in special economic and free zones and organise a business-to-business investment forum in Pakistan. Agreements are also planned on visa exemptions for diplomatic and official passport holders, technology, historical records and media cooperation.
The ministers stressed the importance of restraint, de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy in resolving regional disputes. Dar highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Oman, while emphasising the need for regular high-level engagement to realise greater economic potential.
The ninth session of the Joint Ministerial Commission will be held in Oman next year.
