Pakistan Likely To Make Major Changes To T20i Squad For Sri Lanka Series

LAHORE – Pakistan are likely to make several changes to the squad originally selected for the Asian Games as they prepare for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

The latest reports suggested that Sahibzada Farhan is likely to retain the captaincy after leading Pakistan at the Asian Games.

The right-handed batter impressed during his stint as captain and is expected to continue in the role for the home series against Sri Lanka.

However, several prominent names could return to the national T20I setup. Former captain Babar Azam, all-rounder Shadab Khan, fast bowler Naseem Shah and experienced batter Fakhar Zaman are all strongly expected to be included in the revised squad.

The potential inclusion of the senior players would provide Pakistan with additional experience and depth ahead of the series. Their return could also see several players who were part of the Asian Games squad make way.

Ahmed Daniyal, Saad Masood, Haider Ali and Mohammad Wasim Jr. are reportedly likely to be dropped from the squad for the Sri Lanka series. The final squad, however, is yet to be officially announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to face each other in a three-match T20I series from October 9 to October 13, with all three matches set to be played in Rawalpindi.

The series will be an important opportunity for Pakistan to assess their T20 options and build momentum ahead of future international assignments.

Members of the Pakistan squad are expected to report in Islamabad before the start of the series. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan team has already arrived in the Pakistani capital, reaching Islamabad on Sunday night.

The two sides are likely to begin preparations soon as both teams are looking to make a strong start to the series.
