Sri Lanka Name 15 Member Squad For Pakistan T20i Series

Sri Lanka on Friday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, with Kusal Mendis named captain.

The squad includes Kamal Mishara, Santh Jayawardene, Lahiru Udara, Sahan Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana.

Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Dushmantha Chameera, Binura Fernando, Nuwan Thushara and Eshan Malinga complete the squad.

However, Sri Lanka will be without two key players for the series, with Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga ruled out due to injuries.

According to Sri Lankan media reports, Nissanka is suffering from a problem in his right leg, while Hasaranga has yet to fully recover from a back injury.

Both players are expected to recover in time to be considered for Sri Lanka’s upcoming tri-nation ODI series.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play three T20Is in Rawalpindi from October 9 to 13.

The two sides will subsequently feature in a three-nation ODI series from October 18 to 31, with matches scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

The T20I series are much important for both teams as they will provide with an opportunity to assess their squads ahead of their upcoming international commitments. Sri Lanka hope to have Nissanka and Hasaranga available for the tri-nation competition if they recover from their respective injuries.
