LAHORE – University of Lahore (UOL) has secured a place in the 701–800 global band of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, marking another milestone in the university’s efforts to strengthen its position on the international higher education landscape.
According to the latest rankings, UOL has been placed among Pakistan’s top-ranked private-sector universities and fourth nationally among public and private universities, according to the university’s ranking announcement.
The 2027 results also show year-on-year improvement in UOL’s performance across all five major areas assessed by THE: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook and Industry.
The university recorded its strongest annual improvement in Research Environment, which increased by 17.69% compared with the previous year. Its performance in Industry improved by 11.21%, while Teaching rose by 4.04%. UOL also reported improvements of 1.75% in International Outlook and 0.98% in Research Quality compared with its 2026 performance.

Research Quality remained a particularly strong area for the University of Lahore, with UOL recording a score of 82.6 in the indicator.
THE evaluates research quality through measures including citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence. Research Quality carries a 30% weighting in THE’s overall assessment framework.
The university said the improvement in its research-related indicators reflects its continued emphasis on research output, impact and international academic engagement.
THE World University Rankings assess research-intensive universities using 17 performance indicators grouped into five broad areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook and Industry.
UOL’s placement in the 701–800 band comes alongside reported progress in its performance across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) categories, highlighting the university’s efforts to align academic and institutional activities with broader global development priorities.
A total of 56 Pakistani universities participated in the 2027 edition of the THE World University Rankings across different categories, according to UOL.
