RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Army spokesperson sent clear message on its strategic commitment to Saudi Arabia and the Makkah Alliance, while maintaining strict secrecy around sensitive defence and operational matters.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, said operational defence issues linked to the Makkah Alliance were classified and therefore could not be discussed publicly or in the media.

Responding to question about defence and operational cooperation under the alliance, ISPR chief made it clear that such matters are not normally discussed at the public level. At the same time, he stressed that Pakistan’s position regarding Saudi Arabia and the Holy Mosques remains unequivocal.

He called Pakistan’s commitment and support for Saudi Arabia, the Holy Mosques and the Makkah Alliance as “unwavering,” signalling that operational secrecy should not be interpreted as any uncertainty over Islamabad’s strategic commitment.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stressed that there should be no doubt about Pakistan’s resolve to stand by Saudi Arabia and protect the security and defence of the Holy Mosques.

The remarks come as defence cooperation under the Makkah Alliance remains a sensitive strategic matter, with operational details being kept away from public discussion.

DG ISPR’s statement reiterated a firm distinction between what can be publicly disclosed and what remains classified, while reiterating Pakistan’s stated commitment to Saudi Arabia, the Holy Mosques and the alliance.

Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Saudi, Turkish Military Chiefs in Riyadh under Makkah Alliance

Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye on August 7, 2026, creates a collective-defence framework between the three countries. Under the agreement, an armed attack on one member is to be treated as an attack on all three. Three countries have agreed to strengthen their defence cooperation and coordinate more closely in response to security threats. The partnership covers areas including military coordination, intelligence sharing, defence technology and joint defence production.

The framework brings together Pakistan’s military experience, Türkiye’s growing defence capabilities and Saudi Arabia’s regional and economic importance. It is also developing amid heightened security tensions in the region.

Pakistan has stressed that specific operational and defence arrangements are classified and cannot be discussed publicly. DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has nevertheless said there should be no doubt about Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia, the Holy Mosques and the Makkah Alliance.
