ISLAMABAD – Pakistani households are heading into October with another unwanted announcement as the government has raised LPG prices.
Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued its revised LPG prices for October, increasing the price by Rs20.68 per kilogram. The increase means consumers using domestic LPG cylinders will have to pay significantly more from October, with the price of an 11.8kg household cylinder rising by Rs244.14.
Following the latest revision, the official price of an 11.8kg LPG cylinder has been fixed at Rs3,296.23 for October, compared with Rs3,052.09 in September.
The latest increase comes as households prepare for the changing weather and potentially higher reliance on alternative cooking and heating fuels.
LPG started 2026 below Rs220
At start of the year, LPG was priced at Rs219.68 per kilogram in January, while an 11.8kg household cylinder cost around Rs2,592.22.
The available historical data does not provide a separate monthly figure for February. By March, the LPG rate had edged up to Rs225.84 per kilogram, with an estimated cylinder price of Rs2,665.
A major jump was recorded in April when the LPG rate surged to Rs304.12 per kilogram. The sharp increase pushed the estimated price of an 11.8kg cylinder to Rs3,588.62, marking a major shift from the rates seen at the start of the year. In May, the price remained almost unchanged at Rs303.80 per kilogram, while the estimated cylinder price stood at Rs3,584.84.
Things get worse in June as LPG reached its highest monthly level in the available 2026 series at Rs308.76 per kilogram. At that rate, an 11.8kg cylinder was estimated at Rs3,643.37.
After touching more than Rs300 per kilogram for three consecutive months, LPG prices suddenly plunged in July. The rate dropped to Rs241.43 per kilogram, bringing the estimated price of an 11.8kg cylinder down to Rs2,848.87. The relief was temporary, however, as prices began climbing again from August onward.
In August, LPG increased to Rs254.32 per kilogram, with an estimated 11.8kg cylinder price of Rs3,000.98. The rate moved further up in September to Rs258.65 per kilogram, taking the estimated cylinder price to Rs3,052.07.
The latest October revision has once again pushed LPG prices higher. With the rate now standing at Rs279.33 per kilogram, consumers are paying Rs59.65 more per kilogram than they were at the beginning of 2026. That shows an increase of around 27.2% from the January rate of Rs219.68.
