LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a 10-day Basant celebration in Lahore, giving residents a longer period to enjoy the traditional festival at the start of 2027.
The announcement was made by Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, saying: “Basant celebrations in Lahore will be held from January 29 to February 7, 2027, under the chief minister’s directive.”
The celebrations will be suspended for one day on February 5 to observe Kashmir Day.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the 10-day Basant celebrations would showcase the cultural colors of Punjab and Lahore’s historic traditions to audiences around the world.
The chief minister has also directed authorities to introduce enhanced arrangements for citizens’ safety and convenience, building on measures implemented during the previous Basant celebrations.
She called for the protection of human lives to remain a priority and appealed to the public to demonstrate a sense of responsibility, duty and empathy during the festivities.
Basant returned to Lahore this year after a 25-year ban, with celebrations held from February 6 to 8.
