D.I. KHAN – A deadly wave of violence hits Dera Ismail Khan’s Darazinda area as Rescue 1122 ambulance carrying victims of earlier suicide blast was also targeted, leaving two rescue officials martyred.
Rescue 1122 ambulance was transporting injured people from Darazinda to Dera Ismail Khan when it came under attack. The attack came after a devastating explosion at an anti-smuggling police check post on the D.I. Khan–Quetta Road, where 11 people were killed and more than 30 others injured, according to initial reports.
The blast rocked “Aman Mela” anti-smuggling police check post after an explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into the post, triggering a powerful explosion. The death toll included six police personnel, two Customs officials, two women and a two-year-old child, according to sources.
More than 30 people, including police personnel, Customs officials and civilians, were injured in the explosion. Several of the injured were reported to be in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could rise further. The attack caused extensive devastation in the area, while rescue teams rushed to the scene to evacuate the injured and shift them to hospitals.
The targeting of a Rescue 1122 ambulance carrying blast victims has added another grim dimension to the incident, with two rescue workers losing their lives while responding to the emergency. The attack on the anti-smuggling check post as evidence of an alleged nexus between terrorist and criminal elements, particularly smugglers.
According to sources, Khwarij militants once again targeted security personnel and civilians, deepening concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the region.
The incident has also triggered anger and anxiety among local residents, with people expressing strong concerns over what they describe as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s lack of response to the worsening terrorism situation.
