The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including strikes affecting civilian and energy infrastructure.
French UN envoy and rotating Security Council President Jérôme Bonnafont delivered the council’s joint statement, saying the attacks had caused civilian casualties, including among women and children.
The council also underscored the need to comply with international law, particularly the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and to safeguard freedom of navigation and maritime rights.
It called on the Houthis to immediately halt their military escalation and attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
