MUZAFFARABAD – The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Higher Education Department has announced that all government and private colleges will observe two holidays in a week.
It has officially introduced a five-day working week in all government and private colleges across the region.
Under an official notification issued by the Higher Education Department, colleges will remain open from Monday to Friday, while Saturday and Sunday will be weekly holidays.
The new five-day schedule has come into effect immediately. The order applies to all government and private colleges under the administrative control of the Higher Education Department.
College administrations have been directed to ensure implementation of the new working-week arrangement.
According to the department, colleges will operate as usual from Monday through Friday under the revised schedule, with both Saturday and Sunday designated as weekly holidays.
Weekly working schedules for educational institutions vary across different provinces and administrative regions of Pakistan.
Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa generally follow five-day academic weeks for government schools, with Saturday and Sunday observed as weekly holidays. Balochistan also observes two weekly holidays in educational institutions.
With the introduction of the five-day working week, the weekly schedule for colleges in AJK has been brought in line with the arrangements followed by several other major education systems in the country.
