Sbp Clarifies Status Of Rs10 Banknote Amid Social Media Reports

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has rejected reports circulating on social media claiming that the Rs10 banknote is being discontinued and that a deadline has been set for its exchange.

The SBP termed the reports baseless, clarifying that no decision has been made to replace or discontinue any existing banknote denomination. The central bank said it had proposed introducing a new banknote series, which is currently under consideration by the Federal Cabinet. The proposal remains under deliberation.

The central bank added that if any decision is taken to discontinue a banknote, it will be formally announced through official channels, with sufficient time provided to the public to exchange the affected notes. The SBP advised citizens to rely only on its official communications for information regarding banknotes.
