More rain, gusty winds, isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms are expected in Islamabad, Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday night and Thursday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD said a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country, while monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are also penetrating the upper and central regions.
Under the prevailing weather system, partly cloudy conditions are likely across most districts of Punjab, with rain and gusty winds expected in Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Layyah, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh andRahim Yar Khan.
The Met Office warned that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Lahore.
Flash flooding is also possible in local streams and nullahs in Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as in hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Landslides may occur in Murree and Galiyat, while strong winds, hailstorms and lightning could damage vulnerable structures, including solar panels, electricity poles and billboards.
Islamabad’s daytime temperature is expected to remain between 25°C and 27°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Lahore’s daytime temperature is expected to remain between 31°C and 33°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
During the past 24 hours, most parts of Punjab experienced hot and humid weather, while rain was reported in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kot Addu and Faisalabad.
Islamabad recorded a maximum temperature of 33°C, with evening humidity reaching 63%.
Lahore recorded a maximum temperature of 36°C, with evening humidity reaching 61%.
