PESHAWAR – The rain and thunderstorms are likely in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 13 to August 15, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Thursday.
The PDMA has issued an alert, and predicted rainfall in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand and Kurram are also likely to receive rain during the period.
The authority warned that the rainfall could trigger landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas.
The low-lying parts of Mardan and Swabi may also face a risk of urban flooding.
The PDMA has directed relevant departments to remain prepared and ensure continuous monitoring of rivers, streams and rainwater channels to respond promptly to any emergency.
The authorities have urged the residents, particularly those living in vulnerable areas, to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during the spell of wet weather.
