TAROUBA – Pakistan ended the second day of the first Test against the West Indies on 199/3, trailing the hosts by 112 runs after a composed batting display.
Replying to the West Indies’ first-innings total of 311, Pakistan suffered an early setback when opener Azan Awais was dismissed for a duck. However, Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq steadied the innings with a crucial 155-run partnership for the second wicket.
Imam-ul-Haq scored a well-made 63, while captain Babar Azam contributed 23 before being dismissed. At stumps, Shan Masood remained unbeaten on 88, with Salman Ali Agha yet to open his account.
Earlier, the West Indies resumed their first innings on 194/3. Keacy Carty Hodge added to his overnight score before being dismissed for 84, while Shai Hope played a fine knock of 92. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 311 shortly after the lunch interval.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Ali was the standout bowler with four wickets, while Mohammad Abbas claimed three. Khurram Shahzad picked up two wickets, and Aamer Jamal took one.
Pakistan now require 112 more runs to erase the first-innings deficit as they head into the third day with seven wickets in hand.
