National Savings Monthly Profit On Regular Income Certificate Drops Below Rs1000

ISLAMABAD – The Central Directorate of National Savings has revised profit rates for Regular Income Certificate (RIC) and other products, according to local media reports.

The new profit rate has come into effect from 1 July 2026 which marks the start of new fiscal year 2026-27.

Regular Income Certificates (RICs) were introduced on February 2, 1993, to meet the monthly financial needs of the general public. These five-year maturity certificates provide investors with a regular monthly profit from the date of issuance.

Available Denominations

RICs are available in multiple denominations, including:

Rs50,000

Rs100,000

Rs500,000

Rs1,000,000

Rs5,000,000

Rs10,000,000

Investment Limits and Profit Payments

The minimum investment amount for RICs is Rs50,000, while there is no maximum investment limit. Profit is paid to investors on a monthly basis, starting from the date the certificate is issued.

Tax Deduction on Profit

The withholding tax rate on RIC profits depends on the investor’s tax status:

Tax filers: Individuals listed on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) are subject to a 15% withholding tax on profit, regardless of the investment date or amount.

Non-filers: Individuals not included in the ATL are subject to a 30% withholding tax on profit.

However, investments made in Regular Income Certificates are exempt from Zakat deductions.

New Monthly Profit

The notification issued by National Savings stated that the monthly profit rate on the Regular Income Certificate (RIC) has been revised downward to 11.52 percent.

Following the reduction, an investment of Rs100,000 in the scheme will now generate a monthly profit of approximately Rs960.
