WANA – The security forces have successfully foiled a major terrorist attack in Wana by intercepting and destroying an explosives-laden vehicle during an intelligence-based operation (IBO), the security sources said on Saturday.
The sources said that the vehicle, packed with a large quantity of explosives, was intended for use in a suicide attack.
Acting on intelligence, security forces tracked the vehicle for three days before launching the operation.
The operation was carried out only after the vehicle had moved away from populated areas, allowing security personnel to neutralise the threat while ensuring the safety of civilians and preventing damage to property.
Security sources said the forces also destroyed an explosives-laden motorcycle during the operation. One suspected militant was killed, while five others sustained injuries.
The successful operation prevented what officials described as a major terrorist plot and underscored the security forces’ efforts to eliminate militant threats while safeguarding civilian lives.
