the federal government has announced another increase in petroleum prices, with petrol becoming Rs5.44 per litre more expensive and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) witnessing a sharp increase of Rs31.50 per litre.
Following the latest revision, the new fuel prices will be:
- Petrol: Rs316.15 per litre (up by Rs5.44)
- High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs354.80 per litre (up by Rs31.50)
The increase is expected to raise transportation and logistics costs, which may further add to inflationary pressures across the country. Diesel prices, in particular, have seen a significant jump, likely affecting the agriculture, freight, and public transport sectors the most.
The revised petroleum prices will come into effect after the current rates expire on July 20, subject to the government’s official notification.
