Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday condemned the overnight attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the kingdom’s sovereignty and security.
In a statement shared on X, he described the attacks as a serious violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that such actions risk further destabilising the region and undermining peace.

His remarks came after Saudi authorities announced on Monday that they had intercepted ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi movement toward the country’s southern region.
PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia, saying Islamabad stands firmly alongside the kingdom during this challenging period.
He also stressed that Pakistan would continue supporting genuine diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering peace, stability, security, and mutual understanding across the region.
Earlier on Monday, Pakistan also voiced support for Saudi Arabia during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Yemen, urging all sides to resolve their differences through dialogue and diplomacy.
Pakistan emphasised three key priorities: backing Saudi Arabia’s security, respecting Yemen’s sovereignty, and pursuing an inclusive political process to bring an end to the prolonged conflict.
Yemen has remained embroiled in war since the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, in 2014, prompting a Saudi-led military coalition to intervene the following year in support of the internationally recognised government.
The latest escalation began on Monday when forces aligned with Yemen’s internationally recognised government struck Sanaa International Airport. Hours after the airport strike, Saudi Arabia reported intercepting ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward its southern territory.
The renewed hostilities marked the most significant confrontation between the Yemeni government and the Houthis in several years. The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of jeopardising the United Nations-brokered truce that has largely remained in effect since 2022.
