Both sides reaffirmed their “ironclad” friendship, highlighting long-standing cooperation, major milestones like CPEC, and continued commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The 14-member Chinese parliamentary delegation led by Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, made a significant appearance at Pakistan’s National Assembly on Wednesday, witnessing parliamentary proceedings during a landmark diplomatic moment.
The visit comes as Pakistan and China commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations, with lawmakers and senior officials from both sides reaffirming their “ironclad” partnership and long-standing strategic cooperation.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed the delegation, stating they were visiting Pakistan to take part in celebrations marking the historic milestone between the two countries. He stressed that Pakistan–China relations have remained a cornerstone of regional stability, mutual trust, and development cooperation.
Speaker highlighted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan in April 2015, when he addressed Parliament in a landmark session. During that visit, Xi Jinping and then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif jointly inaugurated the Parliament’s solar power project, making it the world’s first solar-powered parliament.
He also extended greetings to Zhao Leji, Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee, appreciating his role in deepening parliamentary relations. Ayaz Sadiq added that he had met Zhao during his January visit to China and reiterated Pakistan’s warm welcome to the visiting delegation, describing them as “brothers” in a trusted and enduring friendship.
Senate Passes Strong Pro-China Resolution
Senate passed powerful resolution marking 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The resolution, moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, called for deeper practical cooperation for shared prosperity, mutual benefit, and socio-economic progress.
Upper House of Parliament reaffirmed its unwavering support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing Pakistan–China relations as a time-tested partnership rooted in trust, respect, and shared aspirations that has endured global political changes.
The resolution highlighted Pakistan’s consistent support for China on its core national issues and reaffirmed commitment to the One-China policy, stating that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. It further backed China’s positions on Xinjiang, Xizang, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea.
Lawmakers praised China’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development efforts, while stressing expanding cooperation in political, economic, strategic, educational, cultural, and people-to-people sectors.
During the Senate session, Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani welcomed the Chinese delegation, describing Pakistan–China relations as an “ironclad friendship” built on mutual trust, solidarity, and shared purpose.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said both countries share converging views on regional and global challenges and remain committed to the principles of the UN Charter. He said the relationship has evolved over 75 years into a robust strategic and economic partnership.
He termed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and a key driver of Pakistan’s economic transformation. He added that the next phase, CPEC 2.0, will focus on industrial development, agriculture, IT, and socio-economic growth.
Ishaq Dar also revealed upcoming high-level engagements in China alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including meetings under major bilateral mechanisms such as the Pakistan-China Political Forum and the CPEC Joint Consultative Mechanism, with participation from a large multiparty parliamentary delegation.
