LAHORE – The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a special surveillance plan across cattle markets in Lahore and other cities of the province ahead of Eidul Azha 2026.
A PSCA spokesperson said monitoring of the markets and traders has begun using Safe City cameras and drones, while 24-hour virtual patrolling is ongoing from the authority’s headquarters to ensure public safety.
Additional portable 4G cameras are being installed in the markets to further enhance security monitoring.
The authorities stated that any suspicious activity triggers immediate alerts to the field force. Drones are also being used to oversee traffic arrangements around the cattle markets.
Officials emphasized that all available resources are being deployed to provide a safe environment for citizens, traders, and buyers during the festival.
In addition, Lahore Traffic Police have intensified a crackdown against overcharging and overloading in public transport ahead of Eid.
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Abdur Rahim Shirazi instructed circle officers to hold meetings with transporters to ensure compliance with fixed fares during the festive period.
Passengers traveling in public transport beyond the permitted capacity will face action, and all buses and wagons must display fare charts on their front screens to inform travelers of the official rates, officials added.
