WASHINGTON – Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner landed in a scandal after archived posts from now-deleted Reddit account resurfaced online, revealing a series of explicit, sexually charged, and deeply controversial comments tied to his military experience.
The posts, linked to account Platner previously acknowledged using, include 2017 remark in which he responded to a discussion about military “nostalgia smells” with a graphic sexual joke involving himself and portable toilets, referencing conditioned sensory triggers from deployed environments in vulgar terms.

He launched into an extended, highly explicit description of the drawings, praising them in exaggerated, almost reverential language and reacting as though impressed by the imagery. The post also included references to a specific overseas U.S. military transit hub in Kyrgyzstan, a location used during operations in Afghanistan.
The resurfaced content was posted under the username “P-Hustle,” which has since been deleted. Platner has previously confirmed he used the account but has insisted the posts were sarcastic “shitposting” meant to provoke reactions online rather than reflect sincere beliefs.
Beyond these posts, additional controversial Reddit activity attributed to Platner has also come under scrutiny. These include earlier remarks that critics say are inappropriate or offensive, further intensifying questions about his past online behavior as he rises as the Democratic nominee in Maine’s high-stakes Senate race.
