KARACHI – The teaser and trailer of the upcoming film Psycho, directed by actor-filmmaker Shaan Shahid, have officially been released at a local hotel in Karachi ahead of its release on Eidul Azha.
The film’s cast and crew including Meera, Sonya Hussyn and veteran actor Shabbir Jan graced the occasion.
Shaan Shahid while addressing the gathering said that Karachi has always played an important role in promoting and recognising creative work in Pakistan.
The actor said that whenever he visits the city, he feels a strong sense of artistic energy, adding that films, dramas and literature often receive early appreciation in Karachi before gaining wider national attention.
Speaking about the film, Shaan said that Psycho reflects his desire to experiment and move beyond conventional storytelling. He noted that artists evolve by challenging themselves instead of staying within their comfort zones, adding that cinema offers vast creative opportunities that must be fully explored. He also thanked producer Salman Butt, along with the cast and crew, for their support and hard work.
Actress Meera expressed emotional satisfaction over the project, saying it fulfilled a creative vision and praised Shaan Shahid for his direction and leadership. She also appreciated the producer and team for bringing the project together.
Shabbir Jan shared his experience of working in the industry for more than four decades, saying he had often been advised to work in films in addition to television. He said opportunities in cinema came later in his career, adding that timing plays a crucial role in an artist’s journey. He noted that his role in Psycho was initially planned as a short appearance but was later extended after the director appreciated his performance.
Sonya Hussyn also praised the film and its direction, terming it a strong creative effort.
