ISLAMABAD – Road travel becomes more expensive in Pakistan as authorities jacked up toll taxes on national highways and motorways for the second time this year.
National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a second increase in toll taxes on national highways and motorways this year, with the new rates set to take effect from April 5. According to the official notification, the toll for cars on national highways has been fixed at Rs 100, while the toll at the Kohat Tunnel has been raised to 250.

NHA has also implemented major increases on major motorways, including M-1, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-14, and E-35. On the M-1 Motorway connecting Islamabad to Peshawar, the toll for cars has been set at 700. On the M-3 Motorway from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem, the car toll has been raised from Rs 800 to Rs 1,000. Similarly, on the M-4 Motorway connecting Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Multan, the toll for cars has increased from Rs 1,050 to 1,300.
M-5 Motorway from Multan to Sukkur has seen its car toll rise from 1,200 to 1,500. On the M-14 Motorway, covering the route from D.I. Khan to Hakla, the car toll has been raised from 650 to 800. On the E-35 Motorway at Hasan Abdal, Haveliya, and Mansehra, the car toll has increased from 300 to 350.
The toll hikes also affect larger vehicles. On several major routes including M-1, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-14, and E-35, tolls for articulated trucks have surged, with some routes now exceeding 7,000 per vehicle.
These changes mark the second toll revision by the NHA this year, reflecting rising maintenance and operational costs of the national highway and motorway network.
Motorists are advised to prepare for the updated toll rates ahead of their travels and plan accordingly.
