PARIS – FIFA has released its latest world rankings, with France national football team returning to the number one position for the first time since 2018.
In the updated standings, Spain national football team moved up to second place while Argentina national football team dropped to third.
Portugal national football team climbed one spot to fifth place, whereas Brazil national football team slipped to sixth.
Several teams outside the top tier also registered notable progress. Turkey national football team, Ivory Coast national football team, Sweden national football team and Tunisia national football team all improved their positions within the top 50. Vietnam national football team recorded the biggest rise, climbing nine places. Nepal national football team and Bhutan national football team also made gains in the latest rankings.
Out of the 48 teams that have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 37 are ranked within the top 50. However, Italy national football team, Denmark national football team and Nigeria national football team remain outside the tournament despite being placed among the top 30 in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Pakistan national football team fell to 202nd position following a defeat against Myanmar national football team.
