ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s “iron-clad” all-weather strategic partnership with Beijing in high-profile meeting with Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), at the Prime Minister’s House.
Marking 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, Shehbaz welcomed the Chinese delegation and highlighted a series of high-level exchanges this year, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Beijing, the interior minister’s trip to Shanghai, and the imminent visit of the National Assembly speaker to China.
The prime minister conveyed warm greetings to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese leadership, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the One China Policy. He lauded China’s steadfast support, especially under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and stressed the urgent need to implement the next phase of CPEC projects on schedule. Shehbaz also issued a cordial invitation to President Xi for an official visit to Pakistan this year, describing it as a landmark moment for the countries’ strategic partnership.
Sun Haiyan, expressing China’s deep commitment to the historic alliance, praised the prime minister for stabilizing Pakistan politically and economically and highlighted the pride of the Chinese nation in Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements. She further outlined the strong party-to-party ties between the CPC and Pakistan’s political spectrum and commended Shehbaz for promoting political unity to ensure effective governance.
Earlier, Vice Minister Sun Haiyan met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, where both sides explored ways to strengthen Pakistan-China relations, enhance inter-party cooperation, and boost people-to-people exchanges, signaling a year of intensified collaboration between the two nations.
