LAHORE – Acting Governor of Punjab Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan met outgoing Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren at the Governor House on Thursday in a farewell meeting.
During the meeting, both sides discussed Pak-China bilateral relations, trade cooperation, and the strategic partnership between the two countries.
They agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of defence, education, and energy.
The acting governor praised the diplomatic services of outgoing Consul General Zhao Shiren, terming them commendable.
He said that Pak-China friendship is a strong pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy and is based on sincerity and mutual trust.
“Pakistan and China have always stood by each other in difficult times,” Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said, adding that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a game-changer project for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
He further stated that the Pak-China partnership is a guarantor of peace and stability in the region and emphasised the need to pass on this enduring friendship to the younger generation.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Zhao Shiren expressed gratitude to the people of Pakistan and Punjab, saying he was leaving with many fond memories.
He said that the people of Pakistan and China are bound by strong ties of brotherhood and affection, and that people-to-people contacts are taking Pak-China relations to new heights.
Zhao Shiren added that Pak-China friendship is an everlasting bond that would continue for generations, and cooperation between the two countries would persist at all levels in the future.
Secretary General Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Aamir Habib and Principal Secretary Imad Hussain Bhalli were also present at the meeting while Punjab Assembly spokesperson Rao Majid Ali attended as well.
