ISLAMABAD – The federal government has appointed Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu as new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Sidhu, who is currently serving as chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), will replace outgoing Akif Saeed.
Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu completed his undergraduate, Master and PhD from Manchester University. He specializes in the Regulation of Abuse in Markets.
He has previous experience of working in insurance, legal, financial, academic, research and government Institutions in the UK and Pakistan.
In August 2023, the federal government had appointed Dr Kabir Sidhu as CCP chairman.
Earlier, the federal government has given the additional charge of petroleum secretary to Mirza Nasiruddin Mashood Ahmad, Additional Secretary Petroleum, on interim basis till the posting of a regular officer.
The development comes after Momin Agha removed as petroleum secretary over alleged dispute with petroleum minister.
In addition, Muhammad Khalid Rehman has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan Petroleum Limited.
Rehman takes over the role from SIkander Ali Memon. The company has formally communicated these appointments to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), signaling the importance of these leadership changes.
These new appointments are expected to steer PPL towards continued growth and efficiency in Pakistan’s energy sector.
