Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Tahir Abbasi has said that except for the hair salons and beauty parlours, ICT Administration has allowed reopening of shops and markets in all major sectors of Islamabad and its vicinity from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and trading community has welcomed this decision as it would help in reducing their difficulties and facilitating people in doing required shopping.
In a statement on Monday, Tahir Abbasi said that by meeting the demand of traders for reopening of shops and markets, ICT Administration has honoured its responsibility and now it was the responsibility of traders to ensure full compliance and implementation of laid out SOPs for businesses. He also called upon the market associations of Islamabad to play role in ensuring implementation of set SOPs in their respective markets to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said that market associations should also install banners of precautionary measures in their respective markets otherwise those markets and shops found violating of SOPs, they would be closed by the Administration. The ICCI Senior Vice President stressed that every shopkeeper should wear mask and not allow entry in shop to any customers without mask. He urged that shopkeepers should also ensure social distancing at shops and in markets and ensure the availability of hand sanitizers in shops as well.
Tahir Abbasi said that government has allowed reopening of shops and markets to save the traders from further business loss and traders should ensure taking all precautionary measures and implementation of SOPs to save themselves and the customers from Covid-19 pandemic. This way they could strengthen the hand of government to save people from this deadly virus, he added.
