ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has completed all necessary preparations for the auction of 5G spectrum, paving the way for the launch of 5G services in the country.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (Retd) Hafeez ur Rehman revealed it while speaking informally with journalists.
The PTA chairman said that 5G technology would open a new chapter in Pakistan’s digital future by providing consumers with high-speed and advanced services.
Pakistan 5G Auction Schedule
He stated that the PTA would request the government to hold the 5G spectrum auction before the holy month of Ramadan in order to promote investment in the telecom sector.
He added that the information memorandum related to the auction would be issued within the next 10 to 15 days.
The information memorandum will include details regarding auction rules, available spectrum, and technical specifications. Major General (Retd) Hafeez ur Rehman said that consultations with all stakeholders have been completed to ensure the auction process remains transparent and in line with international standards.
5G Impact
The PTA chief said 5G services will not only significantly enhance mobile internet speeds but will also bring major advancements in sectors such as information technology, fintech, e-health, smart cities, and industry.
He further said that under the government’s Digital Pakistan policy, 5G technology represents an important milestone that will benefit both consumers and the national economy. The PTA chairman added that after the auction, operators would be given adequate time to expand their 5G networks so that services can be launched in a phased and effective manner.
Expressing optimism, he said that both local and international investors are expected to show strong interest in the 5G spectrum auction, which would further strengthen the telecom sector and help Pakistan move ahead in regional digital development.
