Gold Prices Near Record High In Pakistan Amid Surge In Global Market

KARACHI – Gold prices in Pakistan have a significant impact on the economy and daily life as it influences everything from investment patterns to cultural practices.

The fluctuations in prices of gold, which is considered as safe-haven asset, affect various sectors, including consumers, businesses, and the broader financial landscape.

As the trading session on Thursday (4 December 2025) is underway, the price of 24-karat gold stands at Rs443,162 per tola, while the rate for 10 grams at Rs379,739.

In the international market, gold opened at $4,208, after registering a decrease of $10 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the rates of per tola and ten gram silver stood a Rs6,085 and Rs5,216 respectively.

Annual Gold Consumption in Pakistan

According to the Competition Assessment Study of the Gold Market in Pakistan, Pakistan’s annual gold consumption ranges between 60 to 90 tonnes, driven largely by cultural demand, while over 90% of gold trading occurs outside formal channels. The market relies almost entirely on imports, with USD 17 million worth of gold imported in FY 2023-24.

The study highlights the transformative potential of the Reko Diq copper-gold project, expected to generate up to USD 74 billion over its 37-year of useful life and significantly reshape domestic supply chains.

CCP also suggested the establishment of the Pakistan Gold & Gemstone Authority to harmonize rules, licensing, imports, and Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing Terrorism (CFT) compliance.
